Thank you for sharing your experience. Reading this made me simultaneously look forward to, and dread my upcoming arrival in Spain!

In a week’s time I am making the leap of faith to take up a masters degree in Barcelona. Like you, I’m coming in with no idea of what awaits me, not even a definite place to stay. So it is encouraging that your tale has a happy ending.

It would be great if we could meet one of these days!

Hi nats!! How are you? I really enjoyed reading your article. It made me feel nostalgic as well. I remembered those days when I also experienced my own share of drama and aventuras in Madrid. I also remembered spending time in plazas and parques just staring at pigeons feeling envious of them. I have got yet to remember if at some point I also hated them just like you did. I bet not. Haha!!

With your talents, charisma and determination, you’ll soar high like pigeons, hermanito!! Que sigas así! Un abrazo fuerte!

    Hello Nats,

I discovered your blog post about the local perspective on Catalunya’s independence vote along with the yummy mussels recipe. I recently visited Barcelona and my husband (his family is from there) and I are contemplating moving to Spain in a few years. We are quite settled in North America and are hesitant about leaving our life behind. I don’t speak Spanish or Catalan so I would be putting my career on hold if we move there. Scary. Your story gives me a positive outlook and hopefully will push me to be fearless once we embark on our endeavour.

Looking forward to reading more of your work. Cheers! 🙂

Hi. Cheers to your success! Based on your replies, you live in Barcelona. Are you a Spanish citizen already? If so, how long did it take you to acquire it? Thanks!
